Electronic filing – By filing electronically you can speed up your refund and receive it within about ten business days.

Short inquiries – We encourage clients to ask us questions during the year. (We always try to return calls within 24 hours and for short inquiries, there is no charge.) We have found that many clients overpay their taxes, something which could be avoided by a short phone call or visit. When you hear something from a so-called ‘expert”, please call us and get the facts right. If the question requires more time to discuss, calculate or research, we charge a small consultation fee.

Computerized returns – We use one of the largest and most respected software companies in the U.S. This ensures that your tax return is done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Handling of IRS letters – We will help you to respond taking the proper action to Letters from the I.R.S. (as long as they are presented to us in a timely manner).

Audit services – Many personal audits can be handled at no charge. (We reserve the right to charge for individual and business audits, depending on the complexity.)

ITIN (Tax ID) First time and or Renewals

An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is used by anyone who has tax-filing or payment obligations under U.S. law but is not eligible for a Social Security number. Under a recent law change by Congress, any ITIN not used on a tax return at least once in the past three years will expire. This means that anyone with an expiring ITIN should act now to make sure they have a renewed ITIN in time to file a return during the upcoming tax season. Failure to do so will result in refund delays and possible loss of eligibility for some tax benefits until the ITIN is renewed. The IRS said that an ITIN renewal application filed now will be processed before one submitted in January or February at the height of tax season. Currently, a complete and accurate renewal application can be processed in as little as seven weeks. But this timeframe is expected to lengthen to 11 weeks during tax season.

Tax Resolution

Don’t be fooled by the advertisements on TV which promise to settle your tax debts for pennies on the dollar. It’s not always so easy. Most of those ‘tax resolution businesses’ will charge you exorbitant upfront fees and in the end, do nothing more than creating an installment agreement for you which you could have done yourself. Come sit down with us and we’ll help you assess your situation. We’ll let you know up front which forms of tax negotiation you qualify for and proceed in a manner which will give you the highest chance of success.

Amending Prior Tax Returns

Did you miss a W2 or feel that there are circumstances that you need to amend your already submitted returns? We can help. Several things to consider: Certain parts of your original return can’t be changed by an amended return. You must file a Form 1040X Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, within three years from the date you filed your original return or within two years from the date you paid the tax, whichever is later. Only paper will do. Amended returns are only filed on paper, so even if you filed your original return electronically, you’ll have to amend on paper. Amended returns are prepared on Form 1040X. You must use this form whether you previously filed Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ.
